Part - I From and Theory :

    Following topics are to be studied : the nature, structure, function of tragedy; a survey of the variations of the form evident in the history of drama; classical and Shakespearean concepts of tragedy; heroic tragedy; problem plays with tragic overtones; absurd drama; tragedy as a serious play.

  5. Willis Jane., Teaching English Through English : ELBS : A practical course in teaching English as a second for foreign language. The first part covers the effective application of English in the classroom, showing how classroom situations can be used for presenting, practicing and reinforcing target language. The second part deals with teaching techniques and the languages of instruction.

  6. Nihalani Paroo, Tongue R.K., Hosali Priya., Indian and British English : OUP : A reference book, provides the
    teachers and learners of English a valuable and useful information about Indian English usage and pronunciation.

  7.  Ed. Russell N Campbell, William E Rutherford : Teaching Techniques in English as a Second Language Series : OUP : A series of books especially designed to meet the needs of the classroom teacher presents the most current thinking in the field as well as practical answers to the questions of what to do in the classroom.

  8. Hooper J.S., A Quick English Reference : OUP : A useful reference book for both students of English and adults. The book is organized into five parts : The syntax of English, The Mechanics of English, Expression in English, Vocabulary Building in English and units of writing. Suitable for classroom use as well as home study.

  9. Crowell, Thomas Lee Jr., A Glossary of Phrases with Prepositions : Prentice Hall of India Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi. An exercise text that is may be useful to students whose mother tongue is not English. All phrases are illustrated with example.

  10. Byrne Donn, Teaching Oral English Longman : A practical handbook on the teaching of the skills needed for oral communication both terms of reception and production. Special emphasis is placed on the use of visual aids, group work and language games. Contains exercises, example and suggestions to encourage the practicing teacher.

  11. Bansal R.K., Harrison J.B., Spoken English for Indian Orient Longman : The books is for use of teachers and students in India who wish to improve their pronunciation in English, and acquire the correct patterns of accent, rhythm and intonation. Part-I contains a brief introduction to phonetics and information about the sound system of English. Part-II contains useful exercise material for pronunciation drills and conversation practice.

  12. Standard Allen. W, Living English Speech : Orient Longman The book is a graded set of supplementary exercises for providing practice in stress, rhythm and intonation at all stages of learning English.

  13. Wallace Michael J, Teaching Vocabulary : ELBS Provides a very clear and practical guide to the teaching of vocabulary in EFL and other language teaching situations. There are examples with keys and the chapter on the teaching of  idioms and phrasal/ prepositional Verbs and the suggestions for discussion and practical work.

  14. Colan J. Henley M, Word Mastery OUP : Contains a variety of exercises puzzles and games designed to help secondary school students extend their vocabulary and improve their facility with oral and written English. The book is divided into single-page self-contained units, each dealing with vocabulary on a different theme.

  15. Ed: Maley Alan. Morgan John, Rinvolucri Marrian, Resourse Books for Teachers : OUP : This series gives the class room teachers and considers some of the underlying concepts. Each book consists of an introduction presenting important current issues in the area under consideration, and examples and discussion of actual classroom material and techniques.

  16. Hornby A.S., Guide to Patterns and Usage in English : ELBS : Describes and demonstrates the grammar and idiom of English by means of a classic formula of pattern plus examples sentence. Covers verbs nouns, adjectives, adverbs. There are also chapter on tense and on idiomatic English in situations. Also takes into account modern spoken English.

  17. Thomas A.J., Martinet A.V., A Practical English Grammar : OUP : A book specially designed for learners of English as a second foreign language. A detailed treatment of those points that the students of English find particularly difficult with examples. It is accompanied by combined exercise with key to Vol.-I and II.

  18. Swan Micheal, Basic English Usage : ELBS : A practical guide to common problem in English grammar and usage, written for foreign students at intermediate level who wish to improve their English avoid mistakes. May also be  useful for more advanced students.

  19. Horn by A.S., The Teaching of Structural Words and Sentence Patterns, Stages, II & III & IV : OUP, ELBS. : Provides guidance on the presentation of the most important teaching point likely to occur during the first few years of English course.

  20. Allsop Jake, Chassell's Students' English Grammar : ELBS Chassell's Students English Grammar Exercises with Answers : ELBS. A fully illustrated grammar with a fresh, often humorous approach. Teachers may find both the examples and the illustrations a useful source of ideas for ways of presenting or reviewing grammar points in class. The companion volume may help students develop self-study skills.

  21. Renvolucri Mario, Grammar Games : Cambridge University Press : A resource book for teacher containing material for a variety of games which can be played in the English classroom. Each games focuses on one or more points of English grammar. Some games may require sample materials to be supplied by the teacher while many of the pages may be copied for use in class. Enables teachers to integrate grammar practical into their classes in novel and motivating ways.

  22. Nuttall Christine, Teaching Reading Skills in a Foreign Language :  ELBS : The book examines the various skills needed to read effectively and suggests classroom approaches and materials to develop and integrated them as well as to integrate reading with other language skills.

  23. Quirk Randolph, Greenbaum Sidney, A University Grammar of English : ELBS : A reference book which combines  maximum comprehensiveness with maximum economy of presentation. Concerned with 'Common Core' of English grammar, starting with the basic elements of sentence, and proceeding to coordination, complex sentences, the verb and its complementation and complex noun phrases. Also has appendices on word formation, stress, rhythm intonation and punctuation.

  24. Grellet Francoise, Developing Reading Skills : Cambridge University Press. A  handbook for language teacher who would like to develop their own reading material or who wish to enrich a reading course. Offers a classification and description of exercises aimed at developing different reading skills. The teaching of reading and offers them a great deal of resource materials to draw on.

  25. Cassava C.P. Williams D., The Active Reader. Prentice - Hall : An introductory reading and communicative text for students of ESL. Each chapter begins with extension communicative pre-reading activities intended to active back- ground knowledge and provide vocabulary on each topics.

  26. Rice M.K. Burns J.U., Thinking / Writing : Prentice - Hall : A stimulating book showing how to develop the logical thinking processes necessary for constructing well-written paragraphs.

  27. Coffey M.P., Communication through Writing : Prentice - Hall :  A practical approach to writing for high-intermediate and low-advanced students. The book teachers that writing is a process, an interactive nature and provides and extensive practice in formulation organization and editing of written information.
